Alexa and Patrick’s summer wedding at the Philadelphia Free Library was a study in timeless sophistication. Located along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, the library offers marble staircases, grand ceilings, and historic architectural details that bring a sense of culture and permanence to a wedding day. The venue has an old-world presence at its core, which paired beautifully with Alexa’s vision of modern luxury.
Alexa carried a cascading waterfall bouquet inspired by the dramatic bridal designs of the early 1900s. White roses, ranunculus, calla lilies, and trailing ivy created movement and romance, giving her bouquet presence and emotion without ever feeling heavy. It was lush, elegant, and perfectly suited to her refined bridal look. Each bridesmaid held a single long stem calla lily tied with black ribbon, a minimal and couture statement that paired beautifully with their black gowns. The simplicity of the calla lilies offered a striking contrast to Alexa’s bouquet, highlighting her design in every portrait.
After their Greek Orthodox ceremony, guests gathered atop the library for a rooftop reception overlooking the city. With sweeping views of the Parkway, City Hall, and the Philadelphia skyline, the space offered a unique mix of grandeur and fresh summer air. As the sun set and the city lights began to glow, the rooftop transformed into an open-air celebration above the streets of Philadelphia.
Florals for the reception were created with intention, mirroring the clean black and white palette while softening the architectural lines of the rooftop tent. Flowering greenery, candlelight, and white blooms layered over black linens created a dramatic and modern tablescape. Ivy, roses, and calla lilies framed the sweetheart table, allowing it to stand as a welcoming focal point for the evening. The setting felt elevated and romantic, yet relaxed in its atmosphere, allowing guests to dine, celebrate, and look out over the city below. Alexa and Patrick’s wedding blended history, skyline views, and floral artistry into a look and experience that will stand the test of time.
